New Medecine Douce

New jewelry from our favorite Parisian costume jeweler Médecine Douce has arrived!

It's all about cuffs this spring and we have some great picks in this category. Also of note is the revival of our love affair with the safety pin - which shows up not only in the fab Safety Pin Cuff
(featured in this month's Elle!), but also the Safety Pin Necklace and the Amazonia Pendant. Red and pink are the colors of spring so put away all your winter black and revel in color with the Jewel Ring and Amazonia Bamboo Earrings!

New Fall Arrivals!

Fabulous new jewelry has begun to trickle in at Kim&Maki.com, and we wanted you to be the first to know about it!

Our favorite go-to for fashion jewelry, Medecine Douce, is back with starry themes this fall. We are in love with the Stella Ring and Cinderella Earrings (both have
matching necklaces).

And of course we had to add a few more treasures from Corpus Christi. The Double Heart Pendant is gorgeously detailed and the perfect every day necklace! We also have a new enamel and swarovski diamond set of
Skull Cufflinks and the coolest bracelet we've ever seen - the Bones Cuff. You might want to earmark these as the perfect gifts for the hip and stylish men in your lives!

More excitement to come...

More Reasons to Love BussBuss

The DailyBuss: August 24, 2007

Haute Shop of the Week: Kim&Maki

The beauty of fashion and online shopping is that there's always something new to discover. But sometimes a girl feels like she's seen it all. Especially when it comes to jewelry.

Which is why we were happily, and admittedly surprisingly, wowed by the newest and coolest jewelry boutique on the block, Kim&Maki.

Carrying lots of up-and-coming jewelry designers from Paris to Tokyo to New York and everywhere in between, it's a new eye-candyland and we're ready to play.

We especially love the tough-luxe vibe of Orner and also fell for Marjorie Victor's organic and artistic pieces, as well as the vintage-inspired jewelry by Medecine Douce and the crafty-cool of Mur.

Discover your fave designers and pieces, including rings, earrings, bracelets, necklaces, brooches and hairpins, here at Kim&Maki.

P.S. Kim&Maki loves us too and is giving BussBuss readers an exclusive 30% off with code BUSSKM30 at checkout through September 24, 2007.

New Spring Jewelry from Médecine Douce

Our favorite Parisian costume jewelry from Médecine Douce is tops again this spring. Red and Black are the signature colors of the fun Medals Necklace and adorable Hawaii Ring. Knots are also hot this season and the Knot Bracelet perfects this trend.

Back by popular demand is the signature vintage-inspired Spiral Necklace, now in
faux pearl or crystal... continuing the antique look, check out the Watch Pendant and Key Pendant - both necklaces are super long and perfect for the layered, bohemian hipster look! We're also loving the Vintage Earrings and Bracelet - so pretty, understated and old school!

Our Obessions: Lancelot Bracelets & Round Deco Ring

From Kim:

Right now I’m loving the Lancelot bracelets! I couldn’t decide which color to wear the other day so I wore both together on my right wrist and they looked great... I've been wearing them every day now for a week.

Then I decided to change it up a bit (since I love to do that) and wore the black version on my left wrist with my watch. I added the black Round Deco Ring to my right hand and off I went to deal with my daily life! Both the Lancelot Bracelets and the Round Deco Ring have such a great vintage look to them yet they are very modern as well. They pair brilliantly with jeans and also look beautiful dressed up. These pieces look as if they have been a staple in my wardrobe forever- like heirlooms!

Introducing Our Obsessions

This is going to be the first of what we will be regularly posting as "Our Obsessions".

You see, we got into this business in the first place because we love jewelry. And obviously, we own most of everything we sell here - because we choose our collections based on our own personal tastes. It's a nice occupational perk!

So, even though we think everything in our store is fabulous, there are some items that we find ourselves wearing more than others - our obsessions. Or, sometimes we discover that pairing this necklace with that other one - and maybe mixing different styles - can change how we feel about a particular piece or even better, our wardrobe choices. The point here is to have fun with jewelry and make it part of your daily dressing process. At best, accessorizing can make an already amazing outfit even better. At the very least, it can spice up an otherwise drab and boring look on those days you don't have the time or energy to dress up (it's raining, laundry day, casual friday, etc.).

Now to the good stuff. First up: the Charleston Sautoir, by Médecine Douce.

Sautoirs are long, rope style necklaces that fall below the waistline and terminate with a tassel, first popularized during the Edwardian era. The Charleston Sautoir is a modern take on this style, with antiqued gold brass beads and chains. Wear it doubled once and long for a chic, minimalist look. You can wrap it around your neck up to 4 times to create a shorter, multi-layered necklace too. The hoops and dangly bits can be moved around to fall to the center or off to the sides for a more assymetrical look.

It's also a great layering piece. We really like the idea of wearing the Charleston Sautoir with another decorative necklace, like a pendant.

We've paired it here with the Snowflake Locket Pendant , also by Médecine Douce.

About Médecine Douce

Exclusively handmade in France, Médecine Douce’s chic jewelry line successfully fuses both edgy, fashion-forward modernity and delicate, feminine tradition. A wide variety of materials - including brass, leather, enamel, resin and pearls - all enhance the creativity of the collection.

Marie Montaud is the designing force behind Médecine Douce. After studying jewelry design in Italy, Marie debuted the Médecine Douce brand in 1998 to immediate international success. Her trademark styles include off-kilter chain necklaces, playful charms and an obvious soft spot for Art Deco and vintage designs. Marie continues to produce stylish, provocative and affordable accessories for sophisticated women, drawing from such a seemingly endless source of inspiration that we find it hard to keep up.

From the moment we met Marie in Paris and discovered Médecine Douce, it was love at first sight. We think you’ll agree that this collection is full of must-haves for any woman with a passion for fashion!
